Legislative Advocacy Brochure

PPAT's Legislative Committee developed this quick, easy, and informative legislative advocacy guide to assist providers, staff, families, and consumers, in effectively advocating for Texas mental retardation services.  Key Do's and Don'ts, Dates, Resources, Contacts, and other pertinent information related advocacy initiatives and the legislative process are included as well as PPAT's message for the 80th Texas Legislature.  The brochure is available in sets of 50 for $25.00 a set.

 

Making Good Choices Brochure:  
Copies of the Making Good Choices brochure are available for purchase in sets of 50 for $25.00 per set. 

The brochure was developed by PPAT's Consumer Advocacy Committee and was designed for purposes of sharing information about how to select a service provider that can best meet the needs of an individual in need of mental retardation services.  The brochure offers important guidance to family members and consumers as they consider these service choices.

In addition to being a useful guide for families and consumers, the brochure offers PPAT members an opportunity to market their programs as it provides a list of all PPAT members and a contact phone number.

Appendix Q:
On October 16, 2000 enforcement of revisions to HCFA’s Appendix Q, which standardizes the definitions of immediate jeopardy, abuse and neglect across all provider types and provides a detailed analysis of the steps that a surveyor should follow to assist them in identifying situations that involve immediate jeopardy, began.  Copies of the document are available from PPAT for $5.00.  

Psychopharmacological Medications: Safety Precautions for Persons with Developmental Disabilities
This 1996 HCFA publication serves as a resource for training and education to help agencies increase the benefits from the use of psychopharmacological medications while minimizing the harm these drugs can sometimes cause.  Copies of the document are $15.00.
